2002 Wedding Photojournalist Association Photography Contest:

2002 WPJA Obscure Images

FIRST PLACE - David Beckstead [more]

Photo © 2002 by David Beckstead

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

David Beckstead's first place image is gorgeous. Great seeing! Gorgeous. For category called obscure, this is the definition. We thought it was something out of The Shining, the color, the wisp of a reflection of the bride, the composition. It's perfect for the category.

SECOND PLACE - Daniel Sheehan [more]

Photo © 2002 by Daniel Sheehan

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Second place is something you don't see at every wedding: the bride shopping for a twelve-pack.

THIRD PLACE - Bill McCullough [more]

Photo © 2002 by Bill McCullough

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Third reminded us of something weirdo but we're not sure what. It feels like a classic Weegee photo from 1945. It's bizarre!

OVERALL CATEGORY COMMENTS:

This category had three clear top images. We loved this category and all three winning photographs.
