2004 WPJA Award Winning Portraits 'BRIDE OR GROOM':

FIRST PLACE - Brian Phillips / Massachusetts

15 Points, a trophy and $142.50 Cash

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Shows real presonality of the bride- nice and candid- sweet moment.

The photographer makes it look easy. Take a beautiful bride and three little beauties, and it's a recipe for tenderness and love. A non-traditional portrait that says more about the bride than a formal portrait could.

SECOND PLACE - Natalie Galyon / Texas

10 Points, a trophy and $95.00 Cash

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

A very traditional portrait, but using the texture and tone of the setting as well as the expression of the bride to really draw in the eye.

Simple. Wonderfully emotional. The face of the bride in mid whirl provides the reader with a timeless look at love. The photographer has given us elegance in simplicity.

FOURTH PLACE - David De Dios / Arizona

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

A beautiful portrait made by the simple black and white contrast of the eyelash, eyebrow and the veil. It's an incredibly delicate and tender moment that can be stared at and read forever.

FIFTH PLACE - Marie Labbancz / New Jersey

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

The beauty in this image is the curve of the stairs and the contrast between the white of the flowing gown, the railing and the carpeted steps. An elegantly photographed, non-traditional portrait..
