Bride OR Groom (portrait)

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

George Hurrell lighting. Staged very well.

A great use of light and composition for a photo that feels like something out of 1930’s Hollywood.

One of my favorite pictures in the contest. Loved the crop, lighting and simplicity. straight out of a 1920's movie..

SECOND PLACE - Jeff Andrews / British Columbia, Canada

10 Points, a trophy and $131.00 Cash

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

A candid type portrait with great facial expressions and body language. The light and composition are also strong.

Wonderfully sweet moment.

THIRD PLACE (tie) - Trish Gilmore / Rhode Island

2.5 Points and $32.75 Cash

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

A true candid moment of a bride and groom sharing time together.

THIRD PLACE (tie) - George Martell / Massachusetts

2.5 Points and $32.75 Cash

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Capturing the peak moment of true love is tough, but this photographer was able to do so. The subtle colors of the Arizona desert in the background (presumably) add to highlight the bride's gown and the closed, smiling eyes of the groom are just the right touch.

FIFTH PLACE (tie) - Joseph Hong / Washington

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Taking some chances in the hotel room windows.

FIFTH PLACE (tie) - Brian Hinz / Arizona

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Beautiful setting, lighting, and composition- gorgeous.

FIFTH PLACE (tie) - Gary Allen / North Carolina

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Indeed, a poignant moment silhouetted against the lighted waterfall allows for strong composition and a stronger portrait.

EIGHTH PLACE - Joshua Brown / Utah

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

The kids are in love, and it's clear by this moment captured by the photographer who combined sunlight, leaping water fountains and excellent composition to convey their emotions.

NINTH PLACE - Najlah Feanny / New Jersey

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

You look at every face on the way to the wedding couple.

TENTH PLACE - Brian Tanning / Minnesota

Beautiful artistic technique- loved the muted colors and dreamy lighting. Cute expressions on the couple.
