JUDGE'S
COMMENTS:
George
Hurrell lighting. Staged very well.
A
great use of light and composition for a photo that
feels like something out of 1930s Hollywood.
One
of my favorite pictures in the contest. Loved the crop,
lighting and simplicity. straight out of a 1920's movie..

A
candid type portrait with great facial expressions and
body language. The light and composition are also strong.
Wonderfully
sweet moment.

JUDGE'S
COMMENTS:
Capturing
the peak moment of true love is tough, but this
photographer was able to do so. The subtle colors
of the Arizona desert in the background (presumably)
add to highlight the bride's gown and the closed,
smiling eyes of the groom are just the right touch.

FIFTH
PLACE (tie) - Joseph Hong / Washington

JUDGE'S
COMMENTS:
Indeed,
a poignant moment silhouetted against the lighted waterfall
allows for strong composition and a stronger portrait.

EIGHTH
PLACE - Joshua Brown / Utah

|
JUDGE'S
COMMENTS:
The
kids are in love, and it's clear by this moment captured
by the photographer who combined sunlight, leaping water
fountains and excellent composition to convey their
emotions.
